NIST CSF

Performing a cybersecurity risk assessment and implementing controls prescribed by a standard is critical to mitigating cyber risk.

Every organization, no matter its size, should minimally comply with NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF) and continuously test cybersecurity controls to stay safe from cyber attackers.

The root cause of data theft and ransomware is non-compliance with cybersecurity standards which leads to missing or ineffective controls, so attackers easily find and exploit the security holes.

NIST CSF prescribes 108 cybersecurity controls in five domains:

Identify

Develop an organizational understanding to manage cybersecurity risk to: systems, assets, data, and capabilities.

Protect

Develop and implement the appropriate safeguards to ensure delivery of services.

Detect

Develop and implement the appropriate activities to identify the occurrence of a cybersecurity event.

Respond

Develop and implement the appropriate activities to take action regarding a detected cybersecurity event.

Recover

Develop and implement the appropriate activities to maintain plans for resilience and to restore and capabilities or services that were impaired due to a cybersecurity event.
